About Shackify

Our Origin Story

In May 2017, our founder Justin Massar set off on a road trip down the Oregon Coast, camping out of the back of his Jeep with a camp stove, a couple of gym mats, out of the gym that he owned at the time with no supplies and no real plan. He quickly realized two things: a real mattress would’ve helped — and he could probably build one of those small trailers he kept seeing at campgrounds.

“Oh, I can build that.”

Shackify officially took shape in 2019–2020, starting with affordable, easy-to-store camper trailers. Over the next few years, Justin designed and built a range of custom setups, refining his skills and learning what actually works in the real world.

Along the way, something became clear: outdoor people value simplicity, smart design, and low-footprint solutions that fit into everyday life. Many also want to understand the build — and be part of it.

That insight led to a shift.

In 2025, Shackify relaunches with a focused approach: modular storage systems with extendable sleep platforms for SUVs, minivans, and pickup trucks — designed to live inside your vehicle and be ready when adventure calls.

What started as a spontaneous road trip has grown into something more intentional — and a whole lot more comfortable.

Meet The Armadillo — my first crack at a Camper

Pretty? Not even close.

Functional? On a good day.

Did I electrocute myself? Absolutely!

A wildly fun challenge that launched a whole new adventure?
Absolutely.

The next phase of building lead to the creation of Tin Man and the Opa Mobile. Still not the prettiest things, but functionality much better! Between these two units Justin and His dog Ezzy lived on the road for 4 months in style ;P
